The Goddess of Laundry salutes The God of The Sea

Oh happy day!!! The new Maytag Neptune washing machine has arrived!

When I ordered my new toy, the salesclerk asked if I was buying the matched set. No, I replied. I have a solar-powered dryer. The salesclerk's eyes grew as wide as Neptune itself for a moment, until she caught on to my wry Canadian sense of humour.

I might have to start attending the Maytag Anonymous 12 step program. On sunny days, such as this one, my first thought is "what can I wash?" Hanging the laundry on the clothesline puts Miniature Rose into a state of sheer bliss.

I have no laundry left to do, and tomorrow's weather forecast indicates that it will be sunny, with a high of 72F. If you're in the area, bring your laundry to me.

No, I'm not kidding.

So, the remains of the Liberal Party of Canada met over the weekend, blah blah Zzzzzzzz ...

The race to replace Paul Martin as leader was destined to be a snoozefest, but not now!

Not everything at Walmart is tacky!

I was looking for biographical information on my great-great-uncle, Isaac Cullin. Astonishingly enough, my Google search led me to this page on Walmart.com.

Isaac Cullin paintings, now available at Walmart! Who knew?

Coromega = Rocket Fuel

We listened to this great radio program on Friday morning, courtesy of CBC Overnight. It was very interesting, and confirms what we already believe.

We've been taking Coromega supplements since August. I've noticed an improvement in my son's ability to stay focused. I feel peppier. Neither of us have caught colds this winter.

Dio Mio! Solo in Italia!

Ummmmm ...

Hmmmmmm ...

Well, you see, it's like this ...

Oh, just go and read this article for yourself.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Italians have a longer lifespan.

He said it, but he didn't blog it

George Clooney had some harsh words for the Dems who voted in favor of the invasion of Iraq. But he didn't do so in blog form.

Gah.

I think a scandal might be brewing

Stop the presses. This is major.

According to CBC Online news, the odds in Tim Horton's RRRRoll up the RRRRRim to Win contest are geographically skewed.

Albertans and Atlantic Canadians have nearly twice the opportunity of driving off in one of the 30 SUVs as residents of Toronto or southwestern Ontario.

Uh Oh. This might RRRRRile them up!

Wow, wow, wow!

I just learned that I share a birthday with
Dr. David Suzuki!!

Dr. Suzuki is Canada's most famous scientist, broadcaster, and environmentalist.

By the way, have you taken his Nature Challenge yet?

Quote of the day

"The fear of been criticized can be paralyzing. Just look at the way so many Democrats caved in the run up to the war. In 2003, a lot of us were saying, where is the link between Saddam and bin Laden? What does Iraq have to do with 9/11? We knew it was bullshit. Which is why it drives me crazy to hear all these Democrats saying, 'We were misled.' It makes me want to shout, 'Fuck you, you weren't misled. You were afraid of being called unpatriotic.'"

Snow Geese, March 13, 2006

This afternoon, I was able to capture some images of the migrating snow geese. They made a quick stop in the corn stubble just down the road from here before departing for the Arctic Tundra.

Click on each image to enlarge. These pictures were taken with a Panasonic DMC-LC33 Lumix 3.1 megapixel, 3X optical zoom camera.

I am experiencing a severe case of technolust for the 6.0 meg, 10X optical zoom cameras I saw at Sam's Club last month.

But did he bring enough double-doubles and Timbits for everyone?

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper made a surprise visit to troops in Afghanistan.

This is the day that the Lord has made.

Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

We've had a perfectly lovely weekend. Therapeutic, in an unconventional way, you might say.

We visited my parents in Consecon, Ontario this weekend. After crossing the border, we made a quick stop at Tim Horton's in Gananoque for communion (in the name of the fritter, and the timbit, and the double-double, amen) then proceeded along the scenic route to Prince Edward County.

With a nod to Norman Rockwell, we indulged in the annual Pancake Supper at the United Church. Jesus would most certainly approve of pancakes, sausage, and ice cream served by the fine men of the congregation.

My sainted Mother made *real* Canadian backbacon for my very appreciative Yankee husband this morning.

Today, while waiting for the Glenora Ferry, we observed two redheaded woodpeckers going about their business.

As I write this post, dinner is simmering.

La vita è bella.

Very glad the Department of Transportation decided against putting the Fort Drum Connector project in my backyard.

Just to the left (south) of this scene, about 40 deer are grazing in a cut down cornfield.

Overheard, the Saturday Edition

~~tiny noise eminates from my son~~

"I think I just sneezed. Bless me."

Hot stock tip for March

Attention JeffDem:

Tim Horton's IPO will take place this month.

In documents filed with American securities regulators, Tim Horton's says it plans to issue 29 million shares priced between $21 and $23 each. The shares will list on both the Toronto and New York Stock Exchanges under the ticker symbol THI.

You'll thank me later. I accept cash, cheques, and jelly-filled Timbits.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

I'm guessing that there are still a few unpacked boxes tucked into the corners at 24 Sussex Drive. And already, Prime Minster Harper is going to be investigated by ethics commissioner. The preliminary inquiry will "look into what influence may have been wielded in the decision by former Liberal David Emerson to cross the Commons floor and join Harper's Conservative government cabinet."

This is precisely why I voted for the Green Party.
